Tien Hol Gong Temple Taitung’s Tien Hol Gong Temple is a temple dedicated to Matsu. Matsu worshippers will come to this temple. The sculpture of Matsu here is over eight foot high.
In 1930 because of a powerful earthquake the walls of Taitung’s Tien Hol Gong Temple cracked and the temple was moved to its current location. The temple is decorated with dragon sculptures and it is of a very antique fashion. This temple is in the traditional Chinese style.
Tien Hol gong Temple is the largest Matsu temple in Taitung. This is proof that the Han Chinese came to Taitung. Inside, there are many historic artifacts. Because of the help of many locals to protect and preserve the temple, it has survived the Japanese occupation and war. Many people come to this temple to worship and pray for many different things. It is the center of Taoism in Taitung.
